Whether in your car or your sitting room, having a leather seat is considered a luxury. The leather seats have an elegant look, and some even consider them comfortable compared to other seats. In addition, cleaning stains on leather seats is considerably easier than cleaning stains on fabric seats.

To clean vomit out of perforated leather seats, you can first use a piece of clothing to wipe off the vomit. After that, soak a piece of cloth in a mixture of soap and warm water. Next, gently scour the stain with the wet cloth for a few minutes. Next, rinse the cloth and dry the damp section you scoured. Alternatively, you can also use a leather cleaner to remove vomit stains on your perforated leather seats.

In this article, I discuss different methods that you can use to clean stains and dirt in either perforated leather or non-perforated leather.

How To Clean Vomit Out Of Perforated Leather Seats

Vomits on your perforated leather seats can be irritating. However, letting the vomit stay on the leather seats is also irritating. There are various methods that you can use to clean perforated leather seats.

As you will find out, for some methods, you will not require any specialized equipment to clean the stains from leather seats, while for some procedures, you might have to buy leather stain removal solutions to remove vomit on your leather seats.

Removing Vomit Out Of Perforated Seats Using a Piece Of Cloth, Soap, And Lukewarm Water

What you will require

Piece of cloth

Mild soap

Baking soda – Optional

Lukewarm water

Sponge/Used toothbrush

Expired credit card, Spatula, or any other blunt object

Washbasin

Leather conditioner

The Process

Step 1: Gently scrub off the solid vomit from perforated leather

Using the expired credit card or a blunt object, lightly scrub the vomit to remove the solid vomit.

Step 2: Mix lukewarm water with mild soap

Pour lukewarm water into the wash basis and mix it with mild soap. Use your hands and agitate the water so that the soap mixes well with the lukewarm water. Mix until enough foam is produced.

Step 3: Use the sponge or used toothbrush to apply the foam to the stain

Using the sponge or used toothbrush, apply the foam to the stain. Make sure that you do not apply any water to the stain since you could end up staining your leather further if you use water instead of foam.

Step 4: Damp the piece of cloth and rinse well

Take the piece of cloth and damp it with clean lukewarm water. Use the damp cloth to dry the spot that had the stain you cleaned in the previous step. Ensure that you have wiped off the vomit and the foam resulting from the cleaning done with the sponge.

Step 5: Condition your leather

Once you have removed the stain, apply a conditioner to the leather. Even though this step is not a must, conditioning leather ensures that your perforated leather is well lubricated, and this safeguards the leather from future stains while at the same time facilitating the development of a gorgeous patina on your leather seats.

Step 6: Apply baking soda – Optional

If you can smell vomit even after cleaning the vomit from your leather seats, apply baking soda on the spot, you have cleaned and leave it there overnight so that it absorbs the vomit odor.

Removing Vomit Out Of Perforated Seats Using A Toothbrush And Leather Cleaner

In this method, you will use leather cleaner bought from your local store to clean the stains from perforated leather seats. The toothbrush will be used to make sure that leather cleaner gets in the holes of the perforated leather so that the stains are removed.

What you will require

Expired credit card, Spatula, or any other blunt object

Leather cleaner – any brand

Toothbrush/Bristled brush

2 Pieces of cloth

Lukewarm water

Baking soda – optional

Leather conditioner

The Process

Step 1: Use the expired credit card to remove vomit residue

Take the expired credit card or a blunt object and gently use it to remove the vomit residue from your perforated leather seats. Be careful in this process since if you apply more pressure on the credit card, you could leave marks on the leather.

Step 2: Wet the piece of cloth and use it to rub the spot where you just removed the vomit residue.

Damp your piece of cloth with lukewarm water and use it to rub the spot where you have removed vomit residue from. Ensure that you have wiped off all the volume residue as you do not want any residue coming into contact with the leather cleaner in the next step.

Step 3: Apply the leather cleaner to the stain of the perforated leather seat

Apply the leather cleaner on the spot of your perforated leather that has the vomit stain. Leave the leather cleaner on the spot for at least 10 minutes. It is crucial you make sure that 10 minutes lapse since during that time, the leather cleaner will be working on the stain and making sure that it is removed from the perforated leather seat.

Step 4: Wipe some of the leather cleaner with the cloth

Using the piece of fabric, wipe some of the leather cleaner that you had applied to the stain. You are wiping some leather cleaner to have a good view of the stain when you scrub off the stain with the brush in the next step.

Step 5: Apply some leather cleaner on your toothbrush or bristled brush

Apply some leather cleaner on your toothbrush and gently scrub the perforated section of your leather seats with the vomit stains. To ensure that all the vomit stains are scrubbed off, scrub in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions.

After scrubbing for some time, you should use the piece of clothing to wipe off the residues coming from scrubbing.

Step 6: Clean the stain with a piece of cloth

Once you have scrubbed off all the vomit residue with the toothbrush, damp the piece of cloth and use it to ensure that all the residue is cleaned from the perforated leather seats.

Step 7: Using a clean cloth, dry the area and apply leather conditioner

Since you had two pieces of cloth, take the clean piece of cloth and use it to dry the spot that you have just removed the vomit stain from.

After drying, apply a leather conditioner to your perforated leather seat.

Step 8: Use baking soda to get rid of the vomit – Optional

This step is optional. If the perforated leather seat smells like vomit, apply baking soda on the spot and leave it for at least 12 hrs. The baking soda will absorb the smell and ensure that your leather seats don’t smell like vomit.

Removing Vomit Out Of Perforated Seats Using Steam Cleaner

You will use steam clear to clean vomit from your perforated seats in this method. Most likely, you have to buy a steam cleaner or a professional cleaning service provider who has a steam cleaner.

When you use a steam cleaner, the steam generated by the cleaner is used to soften and break down the vomit stains in your leather seats so that you can easily clean them with a cloth or a brush after that.

The process of cleaning vomit in perforated leather seats using a steam cleaner is simple. After filling your steam cleaner with water, please turn it on and direct the cleaner’s nozzle to the spot with the stain. Ensure that the nozzle is at least one inch away from the stain since if you put the nozzle too close to the leather, you might damage it.

Hold the nozzle as the steam is generated and deposited on the section with the vomit. Once all the vomit is loosened, use a cloth to clean the vomit and any residue remaining. After that, clean the spot with a cloth and apply a leather conditioner.

Using A Vacuum Cleaner With A Thin Nozzle

A vacuum cleaner is ideal for cleaning leather since its suction ability sacks any dirt from the leather.

To clean your perforated leather seats, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a thin nozzle to suck off any dirt stuck in the holes. When the dirt is sucked, you can use a leather cleaner to clean any vomit remaining on your seats with the vacuum. After that, apply a leather conditioner to ensure that your leather will maintain its attractiveness.

How To Clean Clogged Perforated Leather Seats

Perforated leather seats are always preferred over non-perforated leather seats since the perforation offers better breathability, ensuring that moisture is discharged efficiently and effectively. As a result, sweating is minimized. In addition, perforations on the leather seats ensure that the seats are cooled and heated effectively.

However, perforations on leather seats have disadvantages since they make the seats more susceptible to stains. If you fail to clean your perforated leather seats regularly, the seats can become clogged. If your leather seats are clogged, you can use the procedure below to clean the clogged leather seats.

What you will require

Lukewarm water

Bristled brush

Air conditioner

Pieces of fabric

Leather cleaner

Leather conditioner

Toothpick

The Process

Step 1: Wipe the leather seat with a dry piece of cloth

Before you start cleaning the clogged perforated leather, you will first need to wipe the seats to ensure that there is no loose dirt or dust on the seats.

Step 2: Wet a piece of fabric with lukewarm water

Damp your piece of clothing with lukewarm water and use it to wipe the clogged perforated seats. Gently wipe the surface so that some of the loose dirt that may be clogging the perforation on the seats is picked up by the piece of clothing.

Step 3: Apply the leather cleaner on the clogged perforated leather seats

Apply some leather cleaner on the leather seat and leave the cleaner on the seats for at least seven minutes.

Step 4: Use the bristle brush to scrub the leather

After seven minutes, use the bristle brush to scrub the leather surface. As you scrub, you will notice that some dirt is coming off. Use a cloth to wipe the dirt since you don’t want to take that dirt to other sections of your perforated leather seats.

When scrubbing the perforated leather surface, make sure that you scrub in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions so that the perforations are all entirely scrubbed.

Ensure you scrub for a while while using a wet cloth to wipe any residues coming from the cleaning.

Step 5: After thoroughly scrubbing, wipe off all the residue obtained from scrubbing

After you have scrubbed the entire seat, it is now time to wipe off all the residue that has been generated from cleaning.

You must ensure that all the residue has been wiped off the seats.

Step 6: Use a toothpick to pick any dirt that is stuck on the perforations

If some perforations have some dirt stuck on them, use a toothpick to pick up the dirt from the perforation. Note that this might be a time-consuming process if you have a lot of dirt stuck on the perforations. However, if you are patient and persistent, you will eventually be able to clean your clogged, perforated seats successfully.

Step 7: Apply leather conditioner

Apply leather conditioner to your unclogged perforated leather seats.
